Successful CompEx Refresher Assessment with the Help of EPIT Group's E-Learning Modules

Delegates attending explosion protection courses often struggle with the complexity of the material and varying levels of practical experience. EPIT Group’s innovative E-Learning modules provide a comprehensive, accessible solution that enhances understanding and boosts confidence. This case study explores how these modules significantly improved assessment success rates for participants like Anthony Cunningham.

Challenge

Delegates attending explosion protection (Ex) courses often face significant challenges due to the complexity of the material and varying levels of preparation and practical experience. These obstacles can prevent delegates from fully grasping the content, leading to lower success rates in assessments and professional certification. Additionally, the stress and worry caused by a lack of confidence in their knowledge and ability to recall correct answers during assessments can be considerable.

Solution

In response to delegate feedback, and applying our many years of Ex training and assessment experience, professionals at EPIT Group developed an innovative suite of E-Learning modules. These modules support delegates preparing for the CompEx Ex01-04 Recognised Practitioner Programme (CompEx Refresher) and the many other explosion protection, and hazardous area equipment training courses that EPIT deliver. The E-Learning modules provide a comprehensive and interactive approach to course content, covering basic concepts and principles of explosion protection and Ex equipment selection. This ensures that all delegates start with a solid foundation. The modular structure and accessibility on various devices allow delegates to learn at their own pace and convenience, utilising multimedia elements such as videos, quizzes, and simulations to facilitate better learning. Each module is just a few hours long, making them manageable and easy to fit into busy schedules.

Anthony Cunningham’s Experience

Anthony Cunningham, a participant in EPIT’s E-Learning modules, used the material extensively to prepare for his CompEx Refresher course training and assessments. His employer offered it as optional reference material and Anthony took the opportunity to thoroughly review the        E-Learning modules before attending the two-day refresher course. He found the E-Learning modules and practice test questions to be more comprehensive than the assessment itself. Anthony praised the modules for their ability to condense the vast and complex information of CompEx courses into a highly useful E-Learning format.

“The E-Learning modules and practice test questions were more comprehensive than the assessment itself. Plus, being able to go back and review incorrect answers gave me a chance to learn better and feel more confident about my knowledge when the time came for the assessment,” Anthony stated. “The CompEx course is vast. The EPIT team have managed to sum up all the important information in a super useful E-Learning format, which gave me a chance to go over practical test questions several times over. It’s simply brilliant!“

Results

The introduction of EPIT Group’s E-Learning modules has yielded impressive results. A remarkable 90-100% of delegates who used the E-Learning modules before attending the in-person courses successfully passed the assessments, highlighting the effectiveness of the E-Learning solution in bridging the knowledge gap and enhancing overall course performance. The E-Learning modules offered delegates a “head start,” helping them refresh their memories and, in some cases, learn essential fundamentals before commencing the course. Additionally, delegates could revisit incorrect answers, enabling them to review and learn from their mistakes.

By offering a strong competitive advantage, EPIT’s E-Learning modules have become an essential preparatory step for anyone looking to excel in explosion protection and hazardous area equipment training courses.

For those who book CompEx courses and assessments at EPIT, there is an added incentive: free access to the E-Learning modules. These comprehensive preparation modules are now included in the course price at no extra cost, making thorough preparation accessible to all delegates.

I did compex 01-04. English is not my first language. I got extra support, a bit of extra explonation, extra advice. All of this was super helpful. The instructors were very knowlagable, passionate and well tempered. I failed one of the units but I passed it second time.

Done the CompEx Ex01-Ex04 with Mike and Dodd, and they were both excellent! They both broke things down and made them easier to understand, as well as being genuinely good people who you can have a normal conversation and laugh with!

An absolutely brilliant training and test facility that made the dreaded "Compex Refresher" course, a far more enjoyable and beneficial experience. From the great training material to the very knowledgeable instructors, it all helped to teach us about the new practices and standards in Compex and I certainly left knowing more than I did when I walk through the door Monday morning. Thanks to the all staff! 5*
