Course Overview
Our competence based course, accredited by City & Guilds. is designed to give an understanding in hazardous area concepts for the use of electrical equipment. The course explains the protection methods from manufacture to installation, inspection and maintenance as per the requirements of the CENELEC/CEN and IEC standards for electrical and non-electrical equipment.
A practical understanding in the selection of equipment is covered including inspection and maintenance procedures.

16 units with assessment including practical inspection reporting covering:

- Ingress protection
- Flameproof

- Cable types, glanding, earthing
- Inspections, maintenance for electrical and instrumentation
- Additional international standards
- References to NEC 500, NEC 505 zoning
- Practical inspection reporting for electrical and instrumentation
- Written assessment
Target Audience
Personnel with electrical, instrument or mechanical background within industry who require an understanding in the use of equipment for hazardous areas. Also suitable for technicians engaged in the procedures for inspections to EN/IEC 60079-17 and in carrying out effective on-site maintenance.
